SUMMARY:DELTA AGM
DESCRIPTION:Message from Our President\, Dean Squires: \n“Thank you to the membership for your engagement at our recent General Meeting on November 22\, 2024. We were fortunate to have been given time by our employer to host the meeting during the Sask DLC November PD day. Thanks to your participation\, we successfully approved our first constitutional amendments and received a motion from the floor aimed at addressing teacher faith in the payroll system. Exercising our collective rights is always an exciting and empowering experience. \nWe didn’t have the chance to mention during the General Meeting: \nThe Sask DLC has announced a transition to a new payroll provider in the new year.\nAll members should consider downloading their ADP paystubs before the transition. Having a record of your paystubs may be beneficial for future reference.\nAs we enter December\, I hope everyone takes the opportunity for some well-deserved downtime over the school break. \nThank you for all you do to help keep our association moving forward.” \nHere is a document to view the Amendments Passed

SUMMARY:STF Local Leadership Gathering 2024
DESCRIPTION:The STF Local Leadership gathering was held September 20 and 21 in Saskatoon\, SK. Nicole McLauchlin\, Mark Kosior\, and Marc Gobeil attended\, representing DELTA.Nicole McLauchlin\, Mark Kosior\, and Marc Gobeil represented DELTA at the STF Local Leadership gathering in Saskatoon on September 20 and 21. It was a great opportunity to connect with Withman Jaigobin\, DELTA’s new Senior Administrative Staff (SAS). \nHere is their reflection: \nFriday\, we jumped in with a STF Professional Learning session on Difficult Conversations. This session focused on strategies for navigating challenging discussions with stakeholders such as parents\, administrators\, and colleagues. We explored techniques to foster open dialogue\, even when conversations are high-stakes\, emotional\, or risky. We’ll be continuing this important learning during the second session Local Leadership gathering in Feburary. \nSaturday\, we received key updates from Samantha Becotte\, Bobbi Taillefer\, and Angela Banda regarding the negotiations and job action we took last year. Some steps taken during job action created friction for some locals\, due to language in their LINC agreements. There are some grievances in place. They also explained that having class size and complexity at the arbitration table is a win\, as it means that the Ministry agreed that it can be negotiated at the provincial level. \nSaturday\, we also had the opportunity to have William Collins\, STF Legal Counsel and Gary Bainbridge\, a Labour and Employment Lawyer talk to us about the importance of language in our contracts. \nSaturday closed with us learning about the fall elections platform\, Vote for Public Education\, which is a non-partisan approach to promote keeping education in mind as we head into the fall elections. https://www.stf.sk.ca/education-today/platform/
