About
Our Story
Saskatchewan’s online educational landscape changed following the Government’s 2023 establishment of a new treasury board crown corporation dedicated to centralized online education. This move caused the online courses available locally, and the educators at their individual helms to morph into the Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation, bringing together courses and educators from various public divisions.
They were to make a unified organization to support every student in Saskatchewan, no matter where they are, and ensure every online student has access to online education.
As this provincial educational journey unfolded, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) ensured that this Corporation would still have its students supported by Saskatchewan Teachers connected with the most up-to-date standards of curriculum and practices and the STF resources.
Once the STF maintained its affiliation with teachers under Sask DLC, it continued to support us teachers in creating a new Local Association by endorsing a transition committee.
The Committee then went about defining their roles. The members were:
Marc Gobeil – Interim LINC Committee; Chair
Allison de Huber – School Staff Liaison Contact (Yorkton); Elections Officer
Jeffrey Klyne – Special Project Grant
Haddie Korolis – School Staff Liaison Contact (Prince Albert); Newsletter
Mark Kosior – LINC Contact (Sunwest); Interim LINC Committee
Heather Phillips – Interim LINC Committee; Newsletter
Judy Samoleski – Bank Account/Finances, Constitution Committee
Wendy Slade- Interim LINC Committee
Jennifer South – Secretary
Dean Squires – Equalization Grant; LINC Contact (Northern Area); LINC Chairperson; Interim LINC Committee; Constitution Committee
Jeff Walso – Constitution Research Committee
This committee would allocate the available grants, create a constitution (with the approval of the Local Membership), research the member interests in regards to future linc agreements, build relationships to bridge the gap between senior admin staff (like CEOs) and the teachers on the frontlines of online education and set up the associations first Election and first seated Executive Board.
